Toronto, ON (PRLog) The Dark Helix Ezine is a free speculative fiction magazine designed to showcase new authors from around the planet. Each issue will feature a different theme, an opinion piece from one editor and stories by five writers. In addition, after each story, there will be a behind the scenes interview with the writer to give readers some insight behind the words. Stories are presented in the form of flash fiction and poetry.
JF Garrard, President of Dark Helix Press, explains how this ezine came to be. “This magazine is available for no charge to facilitate new relationships between readers and authors. There is a lot of great writing out there, but many authors do not like marketing. I think of this as a Costco magazine, but instead of introducing retail merchandise, we are giving out writing samples to stimulate brains!”
The first issue was launched on May 24, 2018, with the theme of “dark helix” and writers were asked to submit stories inspired by DNA and genetic engineering. The five excellent authors in this issue from Canada, USA, UK and Sweden includes Ira Nayman, Melissa R. Mendelson, DJ Tyrer, Jared Bennett and Mathias Jansson. Stories range from people suffering consequences from engineered mutations in DNA to AI controlling the fate of humanity. The Q &A with the author after each story gives a glimpse on why the story was written. Regardless of its no cost nature, Dark Helix also places emphasis on presenting a beautifully designed magazine to illustrate the amazing ideas shared by each writer.
