Orangeville Police seek greater support for Community Watch Program

Orangeville, ON (Orangeville Police Service) The Orangeville Police Service is once again seeking support to establish a Community Watch Program for the Town of Orangeville.

The idea was announced in the spring with the hope of implementing the program by the start of summer. Unfortunately there was very little response from the community and plans were put on hold.

“With only a handful of interested residents we felt that the program would not be able to meet the goals that we had envisioned”, said Public Information Officer, Constable Scott Davis. “There has been a resurgence of interest on social media over the past few weeks so we are again asking interested residents to contact us”.

The purpose of the program is to engage community participation in building a safer community and strengthening the relationship between the Orangeville Police Service and the citizens of Orangeville. The program will see interested members of the public come together forming a committee to help promote awareness and participation in monitoring and reporting crime or suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.

Members of the community who are interested in being part of the program are asked to contact the service by email at or by calling 519-941-2522 ext. 2221. Residents who have already contacted OPS to show their interest are not required to contact us again. If a meaningful level of interest from the community is achieved, an information session will be scheduled to launch the initiative.
