Orangeville, ON (James Doan) One critical part of doing business is selling your product, service, or idea to customers.
You should know different kinds of selling require different methods. Your role as salesperson most likely takes two forms: order getter and order taker.
When you work with a prospect who has never bought from you before, you must act as an order getter. Getting the sale requires persuading a new prospect that your business will improve their lives at a competitive price. Gear your marketing and selling efforts toward people who need to understand who you are, what you do, the value you provide, and why they should trust you.
At other times you work with previous customers who will probably buy again. You then become an order taker. The customer already knows you and understands the benefits they get from your business. In this kind of selling, your job is to provide excellent service and expand how much the customer buys.
How readily can you switch from order getter to order taker? What are your most effective techniques in each persona?
